Den 21 juni vid sommarsolståndet är det
åter dags för World Peace and Prayer Day – den ceremoni som initierades 1996 och
fortfarande leds av Arvol Looking Horse,
beskyddaren i 19:e generationen av lakotas ursprungliga heliga pipa. I år hålls
ceremonin vid Mathó Pahá (Bear Butte) i Black Hills, South Dakota.
Som vanligt är den övergripande intentionen All Nations, All Faiths, One
Prayer, med uppmaningen ”Det är dags för alla folk att förstå att Moder
Jord är livets källa och inte en resurs.”
Arvol Looking Horse sammanfattar själv: “Each of us is put here in this time
and this place to personally decide the future of humankind. Did you think the
Creator would create unnecessary people in a time of such terrible danger? Know
that you yourself are essential to this world. Understand both the blessing and
the burden of that. You yourself are desperately needed to save the soul of
this world. Did you think you were put here for something less? In a Sacred
Hoop of Life, there is no beginning and no ending.”
Vi kan alla vara med och axla detta jordiska och kosmiska ansvar genom att
samordna våra egna ceremonier den 21 juni med Arvols World Peace and Prayer
Day. Var och en på sin egen heliga plats, ensam eller tillsammans med andra.
